App helps fliers get into hundreds of airport lounges across the world

Tech: New travel app helps fliers get into hundreds of airport lounges across the world

How many times have you had to wait endlessly at an airport, whether due to delays, diversions or layovers? While it certainly isn’t a pleasant experience, it can be made bearable when you can spend that time at any of the lounges strewn around the airport. Travel app LoungeBuddy promises to help you find the best ones.

Can I access a lounge?
If you think lounge access is just for jet setters or elite frequent flyers, you’re wrong. Complex access rules are
a thing of the past, and LoungeBuddy takes the guesswork out of knowing which lounges are available to you.
It detects your location (you can also do a quick search for any airport), and gives you a list of all the lounges, including how much it would cost you to use them.

Why use a lounge?
You might be looking for a drink after a long day, a quiet workspace, a refreshing shower, or just a comfortable spot
at which to get some rest. Lounges come with amenities such as premium food, fully stocked bars, shower facilities, power outlets, and WiFi, to name a few. The services provided differ from lounge to lounge; LoungeBuddy scores by listing out exactly what each lounge has to offer.

Where can I use it?
Well, to begin with, at a bunch of airports around India — Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and even in cities like Hyderabad and Trivandrum. Internationally, too, the app covers several airports, prominent among which are London Heathrow, San Francisco International Airport, Sydney International Airport, Vancouver Airport, and Hong Kong Airport.

How does it work?
You can book a lounge for a fee, while frequent fliers who are already qualified to access a lounge can book it through the app for free.
