Aéroports de Lyon uses new technology

Aéroports de Lyon uses new technology to enhance airport operations.

France’s Aéroports de Lyon has installed Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) and experimented Passage Automatisé Rapide aux Frontieres Exterieures (PARAFE) technologies to improve its airport operations.

The implementation of the CDM system allows controllers to handle air traffic management at Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport and Eurocontrol, as well as exchange flight information in real time.

With the aircraft serving Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport integrated with CDM, the airport will not only be able to optimise its functioning but also easily handle traffic flows.

The airport has deployed the CDM technology with an aim to reduce aircraft movement and optimise the use of resources for the economic benefit of the airport.

“Airport CDM certification will be granted to the technology after Eurocontrol has monitored and assessed its performance for a period of six months.”

Additionally, the new system will enable Lyon–Saint-Exupéry to reduce and control carbon emissions, as well as integrate the airport into the European Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) model in addition to offering optimum service quality both for partners and passengers.

Airport CDM certification will be granted to the technology after Eurocontrol has monitored and assessed its performance for a period of six months.

In addition to this, Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport has also carried out the experimentation of the PARAFE system with an aim to enhance the flow of passenger traffic at the airport.

The PARAFE technology, once implemented, will facilitate border control for passengers, particularly the ones who carry a biometric passport.

The system will identify passengers fingerprints at border control, expediting the process and reducing wait times.
